Five Pillars

Core Pillars of Islam

Islam stands firm on five fundamental pillars which define the daily life, belief structure, and spiritual path of every Muslim.

1. Shahada (Faith)

The declaration of faith: "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger."

2. Salah (Prayer)

Performing five obligatory daily prayers facing the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca.

3. Zakat (Almsgiving)

Giving a fixed percentage (usually 2.5%) of one's accumulated wealth to support the needy.

4. Sawm (Fasting)

Fasting from dawn until sunset during the holy month of Ramadan, practicing self-discipline.

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage)

The pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, obligatory once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially able.
